Eckert V projection is only supported on a sphere. Like Eckert III, no point is free of all scale distortion, but the Equator is free of angular distortion" (Snyder and Voxland, 1989).

Meridians are sinusoidal curves that are equally spaced. The poles and the central meridian are straight lines one half as long as the Equator.
Parallels are straight lines that are equally spaced.
